Veteran Pak journo arrested in daughter-in-law’s murder case

The police in Pakistan have arrested veteran journalist and politician Ayaz Amir in a case filed over the murder of his daughter-in-law, Sara Bibi.
Shahzad Town police obtained an arrest warrant for the journalist after interrogating his son, Shahnawaz, and made the arrest on Saturday, reports The Express Tribune.
They are scheduled to make a remand application to the area magistrate on Sunday.
Earlier, on Saturday, Shahnawaz was placed on a two-day remand after his arrest.
Sara, 37, was living in a farmhouse in Islamabad's Chak Shehzad suburbs where she was found dead on Friday morning. Shahnawaz and Sara had an altercation over a domestic issue on Thursday night, which led to her killing, according to sources familiar with the matter. The accused had allegedly hit her in the head with an iron dumbbell.
Shahnawaz then allegedly put her body in a bathtub.
The police later arrested Shahnawaz and took him to Shahzad Town police station for further investigation.
The police named Ayaz in the case filed over the murder after interrogating his son.
The law enforcement agency said they suspected that Shahnawaz had called his Canadian-Pakistani wife from abroad with the intention of murdering her.
