Bogra Govt Girls’ High School headteacher made OSD

The head teacher of Bogra Government Girls' High School has been relieved of her duties amid allegations of forcing the parents of two female school students to apolozige by holding the feet of Bogra additional district and sessions judge.

She was appointed as an Officer on Special Duty (OSD) under the Directorate of Secondary and Higher Education (DSHE) on Sunday.

According to a notification signed by the DSHE Director General Prof Nehal Ahmed, the transfer was made in the public interest.

Earlier, Bogra Additional District and Sessions Judge Begum Rubaiya Yasmin was withdrawn from her post due to the same allegation on March 23.

She was transferred to the Ministry of Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs.

A three-member probe committee was formed to investigate whether anyone else, including the head teacher of the school, was involved in the incident.

The incident started following a Facebook post by the judge's daughter, a student of class VIII, about cleaning the classroom.

Talking to the students, it was known that the students of Bogra Government Girls High School regularly sweep and clean the classrooms by rotation.

The daughter of Begum Rubaiya Yasmin, additional district and sessions judge of Bogra, had enrolled at the school under a government quota a couple of days before the incident.

The judge's daughter was supposed to sweep the classroom on March 20. But as she is the judge's daughter, she refused to do it.

She had an argument with her classmates about this. That night, the student made a post on Facebook describing the students as slum girls. Four female students protested her comment.

Meanwhile, after learning about the matter from her daughter, the judge asked the head teacher of the school, Rabeya Khatun, to call the parents of the students on March 21.

Four students and their parents came to the headmistress's room.

The judge then threatened to send the students and their parents to jail under the Digital Security Act (DSA). She also forced two guardians to apologize by touching her feet.

Protesting the insult of the mothers of two students, the agitated students of Bogra Government Girls High School staged demonstrations in two phases blocking the road in front of the school on the same day.
