39 arrested over clashes following Chinmoy Krishna’s jail

Police have arrested 39 individuals in connection with clashes following the denial of bail to Chinmoy Krishna Das Brahmachari, spokesperson of the Bangladesh Sommilito Sanatani Jagaran Jote.

The information was confirmed on Friday by Additional Deputy Commissioner of Chittagong Metropolitan Police (CMP), Kazi Tarek Aziz.

He said three cases have been filed regarding the clashes involving International Society for Krishna Consciousness (Iskcon) supporters in the court area and nearby Kotwali police station.

The charges include assaulting police, vandalizing vehicles, and obstructing government duties.

Some of them were identified through photos circulated on social media and CCTV footage from the incident site.

Kotwali police station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Abdul Karim mentioned that the police have registered three cases related to the events on Tuesday during Chinmoy Krishna Das's court appearance and subsequent bail denial.
