The Bangladesh Embassy in Beirut has strongly advised Bangladeshi nationals to move away from South Beirut as Israel stepped up massive airstrike on Beirut's southern suburbs in the early hours of Saturday targeting Hezbollah command centre.

This advice was given in a circular of the Bangladesh Embassy in Beirut on Friday night (September 27).

The circular states that that Israeli airstrikes have been ongoing in some areas of South Beirut over the past week. As the attack intensified, living in and around Dahieh in the south of Beirut  is extremely dangerous. In this situation, Bangladeshi expatriates who are still living there should leave that area quickly. Bangladeshi nationals were advised to move to north of Beirut or some other safe areas of Lebanon.

In case of emergency, the Embassy has requested to contact its front desk on 71217139, hotline 70635278, helpline 81744207 and e-mail beirut.mission@mofa.gov.bd.

Nearly, two lakh Bangladeshis are working in Lebanon, and many of them have been residing in Beirut.
