A legendary Rabindra Sangeet singer Sadi Mohammad passed away on Wednesday evening.
He was 70.
He died around 7:30pm.
Renowned dancer Shamim Ara Nipa confirmed the news of his death.
His body is currently at Shaheed Suhrawardy Medical College Hospital.
Primarily, it is heard that he took his own life, said Nipa.
However, the exact reason behind his death could not be known immediately.
When asked about the reason for his death, Nipa said that he went into trauma ever since his mother died. He was not exactly normal mentally. Perhaps he could not bear the pain of losing his mother. He fasted on Wednesday and had iftar too.
On July 8, 2023, his mother Jebunnesha Salim Ullah, 96, died of old age.
Mohammad completed his bachelor's and master's in Rabindra Sangeet from the Visva-Bharati University.
In 2007, Mohammad debuted as a music composer when he released the album Amakey Khujey Pabey Bhorer Shishirey.
He released the albums Srabon Akashey in 2009 and Sharthok Janom Amar in 2012.
Mohammad served as the director of the organization Rabi Raag.
Mohammad had nine siblings including Shameem Mohammad and renowned dancer Shibli Mohammad.
Their father, Salimullah, was killed during the Liberation War of Bangladesh in 1971.
He was honored with the Lifetime Achievement Award by Channel i in 2017 and received Rabindra Award by Bangla Academy in 2025.
