
The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) has filed case against former Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy Director General (DG) Liaquat Ali Lucky and 23 others for their alleged involvement in abusing power, corruption and irregularity.
Deputy Director of the anti-graft body Sumitra Sen filed the case as the plaintiff. Liaquat Ali Lucky was the DG of Shilpakala Academy since April 2011. He is an actor, director, singer, composer and cultural organiser.
According to the case, a review report submitted by the ACC’s probe body showed the Liaquat Ali Lucky and Director (Administration) of the institution Jahangir Hossain Chowdhury plotted to forge and fabricate the mark sheets of written test for recruitment sent from the University of Dhaka.
They ‘Illegally’ appointed 23 candidates in the 10 posts increasing marks of the written test of the candidates who failed for ill intension. They also accumulated Tk 8 crore 28 lakh 495.
The accused in the case have been charged with embezzlement of the government money under Sections 409, 420, 468, 471, 109 of the Penal Code, 1860 and Section 5(2) of the Prevention of Corruption Act, 1947.
