Speaker Shirin Sharmin Chaudhury has resigned from her post. She resigned nearly four weeks after the dissolution of the 12th parliament.

Shirin Sharmin Chaudhury submitted her resignation letter to President Mohammed Shahabuddin on Monday morning, according to local news portals.

Former prime minister Sheikh Hasina left the country after stepping down as the head of the government amid a mass upsurge against her government.

The president dissolved the parliament on the following day. An interim government, led by Professor Muhammad Yunus, took the oath of office on August 8.
