Leaders and activists from BNP's Dhaka Metropolitan North and South units, along with Jatiyotabadi Chhatra Dal, held a large rally in the capital yesterday to protest propaganda against party acting chairman Tarique Rahman and to demand justice for the recent Mitford murder.
Speaking at the rally in the BNP's central office in Nayapaltan, the party's Standing Committee member Mirza Abbas claimed the Midford murder victim was a BNP supporter.
"This incident is unacceptable and should never happen again in Bangladesh. But we must question who is really benefitting from this," Abbas said.
He alleged that the footage of the incident appeared staged, noting, "There was no movement or struggle in the video. It looked like it was pre-recorded to push a narrative - that BNP is to blame.
