Ahsan Labib has been relived from the post of coordinator of the 'anti-discrimination student movement' for his involvement in the mob beating to death of a former Jahangirnagar University student and Chhatra League leader Shamim Mollah.

Labib is a 49th batch student of Department of Biotechnology and Genetics Engineering, Jahangirnagar University (JU).

This was informed in a press release issued by the coordinators of the university on Thursday (September 19).

According to the statement, Ahsan Labib is being relieved from the post of coordinator of anti-discrimination student movement due to his alleged participation in the violence in Jahangirnagar University. This expulsion will remain in place until a fair investigation is completed.

The anti-discrimination student movement is calling for exemplary punishment to those who involved in mob justice and killing of Shamim Ahmed.

Shamim Ahmed, a former organizing secretary of the Chhatra League’s Jahangirnagar University unit, was beaten to death allegedly by a group of students yesterday.

Shamim, a former student of the university's 39th batch in the Department of History, was subjected to a mob beating on Wednesday at JU and was declared dead hours later after being taken to the hospital.
