Chowdhury Abdullah Al-Mamun yesterday took the charge as the country's 31st Inspector General of Police (IGP).
He replaced Dr Benazir Ahmed.
Earlier, the government appointed Director General of Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) Chowdhury Abdullah Al-Mamun as the new IGP. A gazette notification was issued in this regard by the Ministry of Home Affairs' Public Security
Division. Outgoing inspector general of police Benazir Ahmed said on Thursday
that ‘evil practice’ of ‘dirty politics’ was there in the country in the past and still it continued.
