State Minister for LGRD and Cooperatives Mir
Shahe Alam has said that the government is prioritizing electricity
generation through solar panels to usher in a new era in the power and energy
sector.
"Directives have been issued to install solar power systems in all government
offices by next February," he said.
He made these remarks while addressing the district development coordination
meeting organized by the Rangpur district administration as the chief guest
at the Deputy Commissioner's conference room in the city on Tuesday
afternoon.
The State Minister noted that interest in using solar power to meet
electricity needs would extend beyond government institutions to include
households and marketplaces through the installation of solar panels.
Regarding the resolution of power shortages at Rangpur Medical College and
Hospital, he mentioned that special emphasis is being placed on installing
solar panels there to ensure an uninterrupted power supply.
The State Minister further added that there are special plans to develop
Rangpur into an eco-friendly and beautiful city, focusing on extensive road
infrastructure improvements, waste management by Rangpur City Corporation and
traffic congestion mitigation.
On the subject of dengue prevention, he emphasized the need to keep
surroundings clean to protect public health.
He called upon relevant departments to extend their full cooperation to the
government by diligently performing their duties in preventing corruption,
crime, and drug abuse.
Presided over by Deputy Commissioner Israt Jahan, the meeting was attended by
Members of Parliament from Rangpur district, senior officials, members of law
enforcement agencies, and officials from different relevant departments.
