A colorful procession and religious discussion were held in Nilphamari to mark the auspicious Janmashtami and the 5,253rd birth anniversary of Lord Krishna. On Friday (September 4), the events were organized under the auspices of Sri Sri Anandamayee Kalimata Temple.
In the afternoon, a grand rally was brought out from the Sri Sri Anandamayee Kalimata Temple premises. The procession paraded the main roads of the district town before terminating at the temple grounds. Following the rally, a religious discussion took place at the Anandamayee Kalibari Temple hall. Additionally, solemn religious rituals and worship (puja) were scheduled to take place at the temple at 8:00 PM.
The event was attended by Mr. Mehedi Morshed, Additional District Magistrate / ADC (Education & ICT), Nilphamari. Among other distinguished guests present were Mir Salim Faruque, Convener of District BNP; Mr. Sohel Parvez, Joint Convener; and Mahabubur Rahman, President of the Nilphamari Chamber of Commerce and Industry.
Akshay Kumar Roy, President of Sri Sri Anandamayee Kalibari Temple, and Tapas Kumar Saha, General Secretary, along with local leaders of the puja celebration committee, were also in attendance.
Devotees from at least 7 to 8 temples under Nilphamari Municipality—including Milan Palli Temple, Sanatan Gita Sangha Temple, Yog Maya Temple, Baraipara Vishnu Temple, Shiva Temple, and Nityanandi Sarbajanin Vishnu Temple—participated in the procession. The spontaneous participation of devotees from all walks of life transformed the procession and discussion into a joyful gathering.
