Prime Minister Tarique Rahman has taken responsibility for the medical treatment of Abu Bakkar, a three-year-old child from Nandigram in Bogura.
Born with a congenital eye issue, the child has already undergone three surgeries. According to doctors, if two more operations are performed, there is a strong possibility that his eye will heal properly.
Abu Bakkar hails from Sidel village under Buroil Union in Nandigram Upazila. His father is a daily-wage agricultural laborer. Struggling to make ends meet for his four-member family with a limited income, he became helpless while bearing the heavy expenses of his son's medical treatment. In this situation, an appeal seeking financial assistance for the child's treatment went viral on social media. When the matter caught the Prime Minister's attention, he took the initiative to take charge of the child's treatment.
In this regard, the Prime Minister directed his Additional Press Secretary, Atiqur Rahman Rumon, to arrange for the child's medical care.
Following this directive, Kalam Azad, Coordinator of the BNP Media Cell for Rajshahi and Rangpur divisions, and Md. Rasheduzzaman Pias, Bogura representative of "Amra BNP Paribar," are keeping close track of the situation locally under the supervision of Additional Press Secretary and "Amra BNP Paribar" Convener Atiqur Rahman Rumon, as well as Member Secretary Mukshedul Momin Mithun.
With the Prime Minister stepping in to bear the entire treatment cost, Abu Bakkar's family now sees a glimmer of hope. His relatives expect that the child will fully recover through advanced medical care.
