Prime Minister Tarique Rahman has announced that 250 million trees will be planted across the country in the next five years. For this, our slogan is - Bangladesh to beautify the country by planting trees. He also said that the number of trees in the country is less than the requirement. This program will be implemented to combat the effects of climate change, protect the environment and make the country greener. Prime Minister Tarique Rahman said these things while inaugurating the National Tree Plantation Program in Goura Nadi, Barisal on Monday (July 13).
He said that the country does not have the required number of trees. Therefore, 250 million trees will be planted across the country in the next five years. The Prime Minister said that currently, due to climate change, there has been a change in the pattern of rainfall. Now it is raining more than before. Therefore, there is no alternative to large-scale tree planting to maintain the balance of the environment. He said that it is not enough to just plant trees, but to ensure their proper care. Emphasizing the importance of taking care of every tree in addition to planting trees to keep the country beautiful and livable, he further said, we have to fix our own country, no one outside can come and fix it.
Earlier, Prime Minister Tarique Rahman left for Barisal by road on Monday morning on a one-day visit.
