Ctg Port goes fully paperless with automated system

Chattogram Port has launched a fully automated and paperless Terminal Operating System (TOS), eliminating manual documentation from the cargo delivery process, the Chattogram Port Authority (CPA) said in a press release on 2 July.

Under the upgraded system, all stages—from electronic Delivery Order (e-DO) application to final cargo gate-out—will now be completed online, marking a shift toward full digital operations at Bangladesh’s busiest seaport.

The CPA said the port has used a TOS since 2011 to manage vessel movements and container handling, but key documentation processes remained manual until the latest upgrade.

With the new system, the entire cargo delivery workflow has been integrated into the digital platform, removing paper-based procedures.

The process follows a step-by-step automated system, where C&F agents and users must complete each stage before the next is unlocked. Each step is digitally verified to ensure compliance and prevent bypassing of procedures.

The upgraded TOS is also integrated with the National Board of Revenue’s ASYCUDA World system, enabling real-time data sharing between customs and the port.

If customs places a container on hold, the status will be immediately reflected in the port system, automatically suspending further processing until clearance is granted.

Officials said the system is expected to reduce paperwork, cut operational costs, speed up cargo release, and improve transparency by allowing real-time tracking of file progress.

The CPA said the move marks a major step in its digitalisation drive and will strengthen Chattogram Port as a more efficient and transparent gateway for international trade.
