A chunk of plaster from the ceiling of the Duty Officer's room at Dimla Police Station in Nilphamari collapsed suddenly while officers were on duty. A police officer was injured in the incident, and a desktop computer used for official police work was completely smashed.
The accident occurred around midnight on Friday (August 14) inside the Duty Officer's room of Dimla Police Station.
According to police and local sources, Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI) Moslim Uddin was performing his official duties as the duty officer last night. Around 12:00 AM, a large section of the ceiling plaster suddenly detached and fell directly on him and the desk in front of him. He sustained severe injuries from the impact. His colleagues quickly rescued him and took him to the Upazila Health Complex, where he received necessary medical treatment.
Describing the incident, the injured ASI Moslim Uddin said:
"I was performing my regular duties as the Duty Officer. Before I could realize what was happening, a large chunk of plaster collapsed from the ceiling and hit my shoulder hard. I was injured, and the government desktop computer on the table was also completely crushed and broken."
Regarding the matter, Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Dimla Police Station, Shawkat Ali, stated that the incident was immediately reported to the higher authority, specifically the Superintendent of Police.
He further added that the matter is being taken very seriously, and necessary steps will be taken quickly to repair the damaged room.
