Under the patronage of Mahasthan Regiment, Rajshahi, and the initiative of the Nilphamari Government College Platoon, the Bangladesh National Cadet Corps (BNCC) organized various programs at Nilphamari Government College aimed at maintaining environmental balance, preventing dengue, and building a clean campus.
According to the information sent by Saiful Alam Sampad, the Principal of the college, Professor A.K.M. Siddiqur Rahman, officially inaugurated the cleanliness drive on the college premises on Thursday at around 11:30 AM. Earlier in the morning, the Principal initiated the program by planting 10 medicinal tree saplings in front of the college academic building. Among others present at the event were the Vice-Principal of the college, Professor Md. Golam Mostafa Chowdhury, Secretary of the Teachers' Council, Monira Jesmin, Platoon Commander of the BNCC Platoon, Md. Omar Faruq, and Military Staff Corporal Mohammad Majedul Islam and Corporal Md. Mehedi Hasan.
In addition to tree plantation and the cleanliness drive, a rally was brought out to raise awareness against dengue. The rally started from the college campus, paraded through various main streets of the town, and concluded back at the college. BNCC cadets from six educational institutions in the district participated in it. As part of the program, the cadets identified potential breeding grounds of Aedes mosquitoes in and around the college campus, removed stagnant water from various places, and conducted mosquito eradication activities.
During the event, Principal Professor A.K.M. Siddiqur Rahman stated that everyone should plant trees to ensure a livable environment for future generations and to preserve ecological balance. At the same time, he urged everyone to keep their surroundings clean to prevent dengue. On the other hand, BNCC Platoon Commander Md. Omar Faruq mentioned that this initiative was taken in Nilphamari as part of BNCC's nationwide program. Along with destroying the breeding grounds of Aedes mosquitoes and creating public awareness, this tree plantation and cleanliness drive was conducted to protect the environment.
