Financial Assistance Cheques Distributed Among Underprivileged Workers and Meritorious Students in D

Under the initiative of the Bangladesh Workers Welfare Foundation, financial assistance cheques were distributed among distressed workers and meritorious students at a programme organized jointly by the Dinajpur জেলা Administration and the Regional Labour Directorate, Dinajpur. The cheque distribution ceremony was held on Saturday, 9 May 2026, at 11:00 AM at the “Kanchan” conference hall of the Deputy Commissioner’s Office in Dinajpur. Secretary of the Ministry of Labour and Employment, Md. Abdur Rahman Torofdar, attended the event as the chief guest. The programme was presided over by Dinajpur Deputy Commissioner Md. Rafiqul Islam.


During the event, cheques amounting to a total of Tk 6 crore 83 lakh 50 thousand were distributed among 164 beneficiaries. Among them, 145 sick and distressed workers received a total of Tk 5 crore 61 lakh, while 15 meritorious students were awarded scholarships of Tk 75,000 each, amounting to Tk 11 lakh 25 thousand in total. In addition, the families of four deceased workers received financial assistance of Tk 25,000 each, totaling Tk 1 lakh. Among those present at the programme were Joint Secretary of the Ministry of Labour and Employment Mohammad Kuddus Ali Sarkar, Director (Deputy Secretary) of the Workers Welfare Foundation Syed Irtiza Hasan, Additional Deputy Commissioner (General) Md. Riaz Uddin, Deputy Director of the Regional Labour Directorate Dinajpur Md. Osman Gani, Assistant Directors Mohammad Sajjad Hossain Khan and Md. Mamunur Rashid, along with officials from various government departments and leaders of labour organizations.
Leaders and members of the Dinajpur Journalists’ Union (Reg. No. Raj-2936), led by President Md. Mofachchilul Majed, Vice-President Korban Ali Sohel, and General Secretary Atiur Rahman Atik, also attended the programme.
Earlier in the morning, Secretary Md. Abdur Rahman Torofdar visited the Regional Labour Directorate office in Dinajpur, where he observed presentations on the office’s ongoing activities through a projector display. On the occasion, leaders of the Dinajpur Journalists’ Union warmly welcomed the chief guest with flowers and exchanged greetings.
