Independence and National Day celebrated in Kuala Lumpur

The 54th Great Independence and National Day of Bangladesh was celebrated in Malaysia with due dignity. On Tuesday, in the capital of Malaysia, Kuala Lumpur, Bangladesh High Commission organized various events on the occasion of the day. Bangladesh High Commissioner Shamim Ahsan formally hoisted the national flag in the morning in the presence of expatriate Bangladeshis and officials of the High Commission. After that, he along with all present placed wreaths on the portrait of the Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.

Other programs in the second phase of the program included the recitation of speeches by the President, Prime Minister, and Foreign Minister, documentary screening, discussion meetings and special prayers on the occasion of the day were held at the mission.

High Commissioner Md. Shamim Ahsan, at the beginning of his speech, remembered Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and all the martyrs of the great liberation war with reverence and highlighted the context and significance of this historic day and said that Bangabandhu struggled for his dream of Sonar Bengal throughout his life. Bangabandhu's visionary leadership and extraordinary personality united the entire Bengali nation in a single thread and helped achieve the long-cherished independence of Bangladesh in nine months. Following Bangabandhu's dream of building a 'Golden Bangla', Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina is determined to build a prosperous and knowledge-based smart Bangladesh. That is why he is working on short, medium, and long term plans. As a result of his effective actions, Bangladesh has become a country of dynamic economy and potential. Bangladesh's progress in poverty alleviation, women's empowerment, environmental protection, health, education in various social indicators is enviable. Bangladesh today is considered as a role model of development in the world.

The High Commissioner called for unity among the Bangladeshi diaspora in Malaysia and sought sincere cooperation and advice in expanding the mission's desired services. He urged the diaspora to work together to build the 'Golden Bangla' of Bangabandhu's dream and the 'Advanced and Smart Bangladesh' of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.

Bangladesh community living in Malaysia, political leaders, journalists and High Commission officials were present in the event.
