Fisheries, Livestock and Agriculture Minister Mohammad Amin Ur Rashid today said every citizen of Bangladesh has equal rights and dignity, regardless of religious identity.
"There is no scope for discriminating against anyone on the basis of religion or making any community feel inferior," he said, stressing that everyone must be able to live with equal rights and dignity.
The minister made the remarks as the chief guest at an exchange-of-views meeting with members of the Hindu community from Cumilla City Corporation, Cumilla Sadar and Sadar South ahead of Sharadiya Durga Puja.
The meeting was held this evening at the party office near Dharmasagar in Cumilla, according to a press release.
Calling for stronger communal harmony and human bonds beyond religious differences, Amin Ur Rashid said the blood of Muslims and Hindus is the same colour.
Standing beside one another in times of danger was the true essence of humanity, he said, adding that helping people in need would reduce social divisions and strengthen mutual trust.
