BNP standing committee member and Dhaka-3 lawmaker Gayeshwar Chandra Roy today said the government is committed to maintaining peace and communal harmony during Durga Puja.
He made the remarks at a ceremony distributing gifts and financial assistance at Brahmangaon Shiva Temple and Durga Temple in Konda Union under South Keraniganj.
Gayeshwar said attempts were being made to spread rumours, misinformation and panic surrounding the festival.
Urging everyone to remain vigilant, he said BNP leaders and activists will work alongside the administration and law enforcement agencies to ensure the security of Puja mandaps and provide necessary assistance around the clock.
