BNP Acting Secretary General and Prime Minister's Political Adviser Advocate Ruhul Kabir Rizvi today said festivals bring people of different religions together and inspire them to stand united.
"People of different faiths living in the same land have traditionally celebrated festivals together," he said while visiting Durga Puja celebrations at Ramna Kali Mandir in the capital this evening.
Rizvi said the BNP had instructed its leaders and activists to ensure security at temples across the country so members of the Hindu community could celebrate the festival safely and without fear.
He said rice allocations for each temple had been increased from 500 kg to 600 kg. Each temple would also receive a grant of Tk 8,000, while priests would get an additional Tk 3,000 as a festival allowance, he added.
Rizvi said the spirit of working with people of all communities reflected Prime Minister and BNP Chairman Tarique Rahman's outlook and the party's philosophy.
Aparna Roy Das, president of Shri Shri Anandamoyee Ashram, its general secretary Milton Baidya, and members of the Sanatan community were present.
