A Measles-Rubella (MR) vaccination campaign has commenced in Nilphamari district in a festive atmosphere, aiming to immunize 210,269 children. This massive initiative started simultaneously on Monday (April 20) morning across 1,616 designated vaccination centers throughout the district. Deputy Commissioner Mohammad Nayiruzzaman officially inaugurated the program as the chief guest at the EPI center adjacent to the old hospital in the town. During the inauguration, he highlighted the importance of this campaign for children's health and urged all parents to bring their children to the designated centers.
The inaugural ceremony was attended by special guests, including District Council Administrator Advocate Mizanur Rahman Chowdhury Shamim, Nilphamari Municipal Administrator Saidul Islam, Additional Superintendent of Police Faruk Ahmed, and District BNP Convener Mir Selim Faruk. The event was presided over by District Civil Surgeon Dr. Abdur Razzak. According to Civil Surgeon office sources, the government has taken this special initiative to provide children with long-term protection against Measles and Rubella. Skilled health workers and volunteers are conducting this vaccination drive at every union and ward level of the district. Civil Surgeon Dr. Abdur Razzak stated that this special vaccination campaign, which started today, will continue uninterrupted until May 10. All necessary preparations have been completed to ensure this service reaches every child in the district according to the target.
