210,000 Children to be Vaccinated

​In response to the rising cases of measles across the country, the Nilphamari District Health Department has launched a major initiative to ensure the safety of children.
​A district-wide special vaccination campaign is set to begin on April 20 and will continue until May 10. Under this program, a target has been set to administer the measles vaccine to 210,269 children across the district. ​The details were disclosed during a press conference held on Saturday (April 18) at the EPI Center conference room of the Nilphamari Civil Surgeon's office.

Key Details of the Campaign,
​Duration,April 20 to May 10, 2026.
​Target Age Group: All children from 6 months to under 5 years of age.
​Vaccination Centers: The activities will be conducted at 1,016 centers across 6 upazilas and 2 municipalities of the district. ​Type of Vaccine, This is an additional dose (campaign dose), which will be provided over and above the regular vaccination schedule. During the press conference, Civil Surgeon Dr. Abdur Razzaq emphasized that this campaign is vital for building a measles-free Bangladesh. He stated:
​"Children who have already received their routine doses at 9 months and 15 months of age will also receive this additional dose during the campaign. This will further bolster their immunity."
​He also urged parents not to be misled by any rumors or misinformation. Awareness is being raised through religious and social institutions to ensure that no child is left behind.
​The press conference was attended by WHO SIMO Mizanur Rahman, Medical Officer Dr. Md. Atiur Rahman Sheikh, Nilphamari Press Club President Manjurul Alam Siam, General Secretary Milladur Rahman Mamun, and journalists from various print and electronic media outlets. ​The District Health Department confirmed that letters have been sent to various government and non-government offices, and extensive field-level campaigning is underway to make the initiative a success.
