Bangladesh cricket team reach USA ahead of T20I series

Bangladesh team have landed at George Bush Intercontinental Airport, Houston in USA for their three-match T20I series against the hosts.

To be prepared for the ICC T20 World Cup, Bangladesh recently played a T20I series against Zimbabwe at home which concluded on May 12. They won the series by 4-1. And after that, they have now reached one of the hosts of T20 World Cup alongside West Indies, USA.

The series is scheduled to start from May 21. The other two matches of the series will be on May 23 and May 25.

Before leaving the country for the three-match T20I series against USA, which is also the World Cup venue, head coach Chandika Hathurusingha said that the current goal of Bangladesh is to qualify from the group stage.

Hathurusingha said, "I understand we as a country now, have high aspirations because we have been playing good cricket generally out of ICC events. It's the same. We have high expectation as players and the staff and as well as the fans and the country. The first step is to get through this difficult group stage. We are in a very strong group. Then we take, if we get through that one, that's the main target, first one, and then we'll take it from there."

After the series against USA, the Tigers will face USA again in a World Cup warm-up match. Additionally, in their second and final warm-up match of the World Cup, they will face India. Bangladesh will not face either the USA or India in the group stage of the World Cup. In this year's T20 World Cup, featuring 20 teams, Bangladesh is in 'Group D.' Group D includes Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, South Africa, Netherlands, and Nepal.Bangladesh will start their T20I World Cup campaign with a match against Sri Lanka on June 8 in USA. There will be another match in USA for Bangladesh, against Bangladesh, on June 10. The other two matches against Netherlands and Nepal will be in West Indies.
