At least 13 people were killed in a head-on collision between a bus and a pickup truck on the Dhaka-Khulna highway in Kanaipur union under Faridpur Sadar upazila on Tuesday morning. According to locals and police sources, a Magura-bound Unique Paribahan bus collided with a Dhaka-bound pickup, leaving 11 people, including a woman, dead on the spot. Another person died while undergoing treatment at Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical College Hospital. Besides, three others were hospitalized in critical condition. Karimpur highway police station Officer-in-Charge Md Salauddin Chowdhury said the identities of the deceased could not be known immediately. The police believe a family had rented the pickup and was returning to Dhaka after the Eid holidays.
