TCB starts selling goods to 1cr families

The state-run Trading Corporation of Bangladesh (TCB) yesterday started selling essential items to some one crore families from the lower income group.
Commerce Minister Tipu Munshi formally inaugurated the operations of the programme at a TCB dealer shop in the city, said a press release.
Some one crore families across the country having cards would be able to buy such essential items in phases.
The TCB programme allows a cardholder to buy at a time two liters of soybean oil at Taka 110 per liter, two KGs of lentil at Taka 65 per KG, one KG of sugar at Taka 55 and two KGs of onion at Taka 20 per KG. However, onion is being sold only at city corporation areas and in those districts having regional offices of TCB.
In his speech, Tipu said the government will continue the sale of TCB products at subsidised prices among the one crore families across the country.
In the month of mourning August, TCB has started to sale the sugar, lentil, soyabean oil and onion in fixed quantities at fixed prices, he added. 
He said all these products are being sold to one crore card holders. 
TCB will not sale the essential items this time through trucks rather from the shops of the distributors or from their designated places through family cards, he added.
He said strict measures are being taken against any kind of irregularity in the sale of TCB products.
Among others, Commerce Ministry’s Senior Secretary Tapan Kanti Ghosh, TCB Chairman Brigadier General Md Ariful Hasan and Additional Secretary of the Commerce Ministry Ali Ahad Khan were present on the occasion.
