To maintain ecological balance and promote nationwide afforestation, a tree plantation program featuring fruit-bearing and forest trees was organized by the Nilphamari Government College unit of Chhatra Dal following the directives of Prime Minister Tarique Rahman. The initiative was inaugurated on Tuesday morning, April 28, 2026, by planting various species of saplings on the college premises. The newly appointed Principal of Nilphamari Government College, A.K.M. Siddiqur Rahman, was present as the chief guest of the program. Also in attendance as special guests were Md. Mosabber Hossain Sarkar, Head of the Department of Islamic History and Culture, Md. Soleman Ali, Lecturer of the same department, and Md. Faruk Khan, Physical Education Teacher of the college. Among the student leaders present were District Chhatra Dal General Secretary Mozammel Haque Mozam, College Unit Convener Payeluzzaman Roxy, Member Secretary Faizul Islam Rana, and Senior Joint Convener Firoz Ahmed Saikat, along with other activists. During the event, Principal A.K.M. Siddiqur Rahman praised the noble initiative, stating that in this critical era of climate change, there is no alternative to planting trees to save nature and it sends a positive message to society when students step forward for environmental protection alongside their studies. He expressed hope that the students would take full responsibility for nurturing these saplings into mature trees, noting that such eco-friendly programs in educational institutions are highly commendable. District Chhatra Dal General Secretary Mozammel Haque Mozam remarked that under the guidance of leader Tarique Rahman, they have called for a green revolution across the country and aim to spread this movement to every educational institution and neighborhood in Nilphamari as part of their social responsibility. College Unit Convener Payeluzzaman Roxy added that they planted these saplings to enhance campus beauty and maintain environmental balance, with the primary goal of increasing environmental awareness among general students while reaffirming that the college unit will always play a leading role in implementing every instruction of Tarique Rahman. Following the plantation, the leaders took an oath to ensure the regular maintenance of the saplings and urged general students to join the efforts in environmental conservation. A large number of activists from various units of the college Chhatra Dal were present during the event.
