The training on 'Office and Financial Management' for Union Parishad officials and employees was held on Monday (June 15) at the Skill Development Center in the district town. The National Institute of Local Government (NILG) and the Nilphamari District Administration jointly organized this field-level training. Administrative Officers and Accounts Assistant-cum-Computer Operators from all Union Parishads across the district participated in the day-long workshop. The organizers stated that this initiative was taken to bring dynamism to field-level official work and ensure the proper maintenance of government financial accounts.

The training program was chaired by Saidul Islam, Deputy Director of Local Government, and attended by Nilphamari Deputy Commissioner Mohammad Nayiruzzaman as the chief guest. Additional Superintendent of Police Faruk Ahmed was also present as a special guest and delivered his speech. In his speech as the chief guest, Deputy Commissioner Mohammad Nayiruzzaman said, "Union Parishads play the most crucial role in the overall development of our country. This is because it is the very first tier of local government, having direct contact with the common people. There is no alternative to increasing administrative efficiency to deliver fast and hassle-free services to the doorsteps of rural citizens. At the same time, one hundred percent transparency and accountability must be ensured in government financial expenditures. This training will improve the professionalism of the officials, which will indirectly accelerate public services.

Speaking as a special guest, Additional Superintendent of Police Faruk Ahmed emphasized the establishment of good governance, stating that the competence and sense of responsibility of working officials and employees are required above all to establish good governance in any organization. He expressed hope that the trainees would not keep the theoretical and practical knowledge gained here confined to files but would apply it honestly in their respective workplaces. During the training sessions, expert trainers explained various aspects of modern office management, proper methods of preserving government documents or records, and transparent accounting processes through practical examples. Alongside this, to advance the concepts of 'Digital Bangladesh' and 'Smart Bangladesh', special emphasis was placed on the effective use of information technology (IT) in official work, e-nethi (e-filing), and compliance with government Financial Rules. In the closing session, certificates were distributed among the trainees, and the speakers expressed their hope that this training would bring a new momentum to the administrative activities of the Union Parishads in the district.
