In the case of the rape and murder of five-year-old Jannatul Mawa in Narail, the court has sentenced the sole accused, Rabbiul Sikder Rabi, to death and fined him Tk 300,000. The verdict was delivered at around 12:30 p.m. on Wednesday by Sheikh Shamidul Islam, Judge of the Narail Children’s Violence Suppression Tribunal.
The verdict was delivered within one month of the murder and within eight working days of the commencement of the trial proceedings in court. The accused was present in court when the verdict was announced. The victim’s family members have demanded that the death sentence be executed as soon as possible.
