The grand final matches of the district-level '1st Phase Community Policing Kabaddi Championship-2026' were held in Nilphamari amidst a festive atmosphere. Demonstrating an outstanding performance, the Nilphamari Police Station kabaddi team earned the glory of becoming champions in both the men's and women's categories. On Saturday afternoon, at the Nilphamari Tennis Complex ground, the Nilphamari Police Station team defeated a strong Syedpur Police Station kabaddi team in the men's final. Meanwhile, in the women's event, the Nilphamari Police Station women's team clinched the title by defeating the Jaldhaka Police Station team.
An attractive prize distribution and closing ceremony took place following the matches. Deputy Commissioner of Nilphamari, Mohammad Nayiruzzaman, attended as the chief guest and handed over the championship and runners-up trophies along with medals to the players. Presided over by Superintendent of Police Md. Farhad Hossain Khan, the prize distribution ceremony was attended by Additional Superintendent of Police (Crime and Ops) ABM Faizul Islam, Additional Superintendent of Police (Syedpur Circle) AKM Ohidunnabi, District Sports Officer Abul Hashem, and Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Nilphamari Police Station Md. Zillur Rahman, among others.
According to tournament organizers, the championship was inaugurated with grand arrangements last Wednesday at the Nilphamari Mini Stadium. A total of 8 teams (4 men's and 4 women's) participated in this under-20 tournament, centered around the theme: "Leave drugs behind, eliminate teen gangs, build a healthy and strong life." In his closing speech, the Superintendent of Police stated, "This tournament has been organized to engage the young generation in sports, keep them away from drugs and criminal activities, and foster mutual trust, harmony, and friendship between the police and the general public." He further shared that a strong team has been formed by selecting talented, energetic, and promising players from various areas through this tournament.
It is worth noting that the two winning teams from the district level—representing Nilphamari Police Station in both the men's and women's divisions—will represent Nilphamari district in the upcoming divisional-level championship.
