Md. Rakib Mia alias Shapla (30) has been arrested with 10 grams of ganja during a drive conducted by the Department of Narcotics Control (DNC) in the Station Road area of Bogura Sadar Upazila. Later, he was sentenced to 15 days of rigorous imprisonment and a fine of 100 Taka through a mobile court.
The drive was conducted on Tuesday (October 27) between 5:00 PM and 6:00 PM in front of Shopnopuri Hotel on Station Road in Bogura Sadar Upazila.
An operational team from the DNC 'K' Circle, Bogura, carried out the drive. The mobile court was led by Faisal Ahmed, Assistant Commissioner and Executive Magistrate of the Bogura District Commissioner’s Office, who arrested Rakib Mia with the ganja.
Later, the mobile court handed down the sentence of 15 days of rigorous imprisonment and a 100 Taka fine. The seized ganja was destroyed by the Executive Magistrate at the scene.
