Two persons have been sentenced to one month of simple imprisonment and fined BDT 50 each by a mobile court after being arrested with 20 grams of cannabis in Bogura Sadar.
On Saturday (October 24), between 4:00 PM and 4:30 PM, an operational team of Circle 'Ka' under the Department of Narcotics Control (DNC), Bogura, conducted the drive in the Central Mosque and Sweeper Colony areas of Bogura Sadar Upazila.
The convicts are Md. Shafiqul Islam (55), son of the late Taiobor from the Malgram area of Bogura Sadar Upazila, and Md. Murad Hossain (35), son of the late Rofiq from the Colony area.
According to DNC sources, 20 grams of cannabis were recovered from them during the mobile court drive led by Mehrab Hossain, Assistant Commissioner and Executive Magistrate of the Bogura District Commissioner's Office. Subsequently, the mobile court handed down a one-month simple imprisonment and a fine of BDT 50 to each of the convicts.
A press release confirmed that the seized cannabis was destroyed at the spot by the Executive Magistrate.
