Train services on the Nilphamari-Seyedpur railway route have returned to normal, five and a half hours after the engine of the Khulna Mail train derailed due to a fallen tree branch on the tracks. The route became operational again today, Sunday (May 17), around 1:30 PM, after the affected train finally departed for Khulna. Earlier, at around 8:15 AM, the two front wheels of the Khulna Mail train's engine derailed near the Khairat Nagar railway station area, where a tree branch had fallen onto the tracks. Immediately after the incident, all train operations on this route were temporarily suspended.
Upon receiving the news, a relief (rescue) train from Parbatipur rushed to the spot. Following an intensive rescue operation, the team successfully put the derailed engine back on the tracks around 1:00 PM. Confirming the incident, Nilphamari Railway Station Master Mithun Roy stated that the train resumed its journey toward Khulna at around 1:30 PM. He added that there were no casualties or major damages reported in the accident, and train operations on this route are now completely back to normal.
