RAB-13 has taken an awareness-raising and effective initiative to build a drug-free society and prevent social vices. On Wednesday (July 29), a vibrant civic exchange meeting on 'Prevention of Drugs and Social Crimes' was held at the Nilphamari District Shilpakala Academy Auditorium, organized by CPC-2, RAB-13 Rangpur. People from all walks of life in Nilphamari, including students, youth, teachers, mosque imams, and public and private sector employees, participated in the event.
The exchange meeting was chaired by Squadron Leader Md. Ashraful Kabir, Company Commander of CPC-2 Nilphamari, and moderated by SI Palash. Mr. Mohammad Naziruzzaman, Joint Secretary and Deputy Commissioner of Nilphamari, attended the event as the chief guest. Special guests included Additional Superintendent of Police Mr. Mohsin Ali and Deputy Director of the Department of Narcotics Control Anisur Rahman Khan.
During the meeting, the chief guest and special guests highlighted the devastating consequences of drugs, the growing prevalence of online gambling, and the severe impacts of social evils like child marriage and dowry before the youth and invited guests. Speakers emphasized that drugs do not merely destroy an individual, but cripple an entire family and society from within. Detailed discussions were held on the importance of increasing social awareness, socially boycotting offenders, and guiding derailed youth back to the right path to eradicate these crimes.
During the open discussion, student and youth representatives directly raised various questions with the guests and law enforcement officials regarding the current situation in the city—particularly the unchecked spread of drugs and online gambling. They also presented the youth's perspectives and various practical proposals to resolve these issues.
The administration assured that a zero-tolerance policy is being enforced to curb drugs and crime. The administration is working tirelessly to keep society crime-free through strengthened intelligence surveillance, regular raids, tracking the financial sources of drug dealers, and forming social resistance committees in various neighborhoods. At the same time, law enforcement cyber-surveillance has been enhanced to tackle emerging technology-driven crimes like online gambling. Alongside law enforcement agencies, parents, teachers, and conscious members of society were urged to step forward in this fight.
