Informant’s Revelations Expose Theft Den: Bike Theft ’Godfather’ Arrested with 32 Stolen Motorcycles

Police have conducted a massive and sensational raid in Jaldhaka, Nilphamari, following intense interrogation of Shahin Mia (30), the mastermind and alleged "godfather" of an inter-district motorcycle theft syndicate. Based on information extracted during his remand, police recovered 32 stolen motorcycles from three secret warehouses belonging to a local business establishment. The Jaldhaka police conducted this special operation from Sunday (May 17) morning until afternoon in the Tengonmari Bazar area under Khutamara Union of the upazila. In connection with the incident, two more individuals have been detained alongside the syndicate leader, Shahin Mia. Shahin is the son of Mominur Rahman from Dighaltari village (Ward No. 5) of Khutamara Union. According to police and local sources, motorcycle thefts had recently risen at an alarming rate across Jaldhaka Upazila. Vehicles were frequently reported stolen from crowded spots, including the municipal town's Thana Mor, Zero Point, Bus Stand, Domar-Dimla Road, and in front of various banks. The continuous thefts triggered widespread resentment among victims and sparked intense discussions and criticism on social media, prompting law enforcement agencies to take stern action.

Consequently, acting on a tip-off late last Friday night, police arrested Shahin Mia. He was subsequently shown arrested in three previous theft cases and sent to district jail through the court. To ensure a proper investigation and track down other members of the syndicate, police applied for remand, and the learned court granted a 4-day remand for Shahin. On the very first day of his remand, Shahin confessed to his involvement and leaked sensational details about the theft syndicate and the secret hideouts where the stolen bikes were concealed. Acting on his confession, a team from Jaldhaka Police Station raided a motorcycle parts and mechanic shop named "M/S Asif Traders" at Tengonmari Bazar. Upon searching the premises, police discovered three separate secret warehouses connected to the shop. A total of 32 stolen motorcycles of various renowned brands, including Suzuki Gixxer, Pulsar, and Discover, were seized from those hidden dens. Regarding the operation, Nazmul Alam, Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Jaldhaka Police Station, said: "We conducted this successful raid based on information provided by the theft syndicate's mastermind, Shahin Mia. The motorcycles at M/S Asif Traders initially appeared suspicious, leading to extensive questioning. Subsequently, we managed to recover 32 stolen motorcycles from their three secret warehouses. The OC further stated that Shahin is being aggressively interrogated to unearth the ins and outs of the syndicate. A special police drive is underway to identify and apprehend the remaining members involved with the gang. Preliminary police investigations suggest that a large inter-district theft syndicate is active behind this, and the number of recovered motorcycles may increase.

Meanwhile, addressing the rightful owners of the recovered vehicles, police announced that individuals whose motorcycles have been stolen or lost can contact Jaldhaka Police Station with proper and necessary documents. Following due verification, their vehicles will be handed back to them. This major breakthrough by the police has brought immense relief to the general public and bikers in Jaldhaka and its surrounding areas.
