With the slogan "The single vow of firefighters: We will keep property and life safe," the Fire Service and Civil Defense Week-2026 has commenced in Nilphamari amidst colorful arrangements. On Wednesday (May 20) morning, Deputy Commissioner Mohammad Nayiruzzaman formally inaugurated the week at the Nilphamari Fire Service and Civil Defense Station premises. This program will be celebrated across the district through various week-long arrangements until May 22.
The inaugural ceremony was presided over by Md. Mamun Ur Rashid, Senior Station Officer of Nilphamari Fire Service Station, while Upazila Nirbahi Officer Mubasshira Amatullah was present as the special guest. Conducted by the station's Sub-Officer Mokbul Hossain, the event was attended by Firefighter Saikat Jahan Safin along with local officers and employees. Following the inauguration, the Deputy Commissioner inspected various modern rescue equipment used by the Fire Service and observed a practical demonstration of extinguishing a gas cylinder fire.
Speaking as the chief guest, Deputy Commissioner Mohammad Nayiruzzaman said, "The personnel of the Fire Service are our true friends. Not only in fires, but they also stand by the people by risking their lives during any natural or man-made disasters." He further added, "To avoid accidents and reduce damage, each of us must be aware and assist by quickly informing the Fire Service during any emergency. Senior Station Officer Md. Mamun Ur Rashid informed that as part of the week-long program, public relations campaigns, distribution of leaflets, exhibitions of Fire Service rescue operations, and a friendly football match have been organized across the district. The organizers expressed hope that public fire safety and awareness would further increase through this initiative.
