Moumita Acharjee Receives National Academic Honor in USA

Moumita Acharjee, a student of Hillcrest High School in Queens, New York of United States of America , has been recognized with a prestigious national honor by the National Society of High School Scholars (NSHSS).
According to a press release issued on March 23, 2026, from Atlanta, Georgia, Acharjee has been selected for membership in NSHSS, an organization that recognizes outstanding high school students for their academic excellence, leadership, and commitment to community service.
Announcing the recognition, NSHSS Co-founder and President James W. Lewis praised Acharjee’s achievement, stating, “We are honored to recognize the hard work, passion, and dedication that Moumita has demonstrated in achieving this exceptional level of academic excellence. She now joins a distinguished community of scholars who represent our best hope for the future.”
NSHSS noted that its members are granted lifetime membership and gain access to a wide range of opportunities designed to support their academic and professional growth. These include scholarships, internships, leadership programs, international study opportunities, and networking with peers and professionals worldwide.
Founded in 2002 by James W. Lewis and Claes Nobel, a member of the Nobel Prize–establishing family, NSHSS aims to recognize and nurture high-achieving students. The organization currently serves more than two million members across over 170 countries.
The recognition of Moumita Acharjee has been welcomed as a proud achievement for her school and the local community in Queens, highlighting the accomplishments of young scholars striving for excellence.
Moumita’s father Deepak Kumar Acharjee is a prominent journalist in Bangladesh. He is editor and publisher of the national daily in Bangladesh named The South Asian Times.
