Shomi Kaiser sued for vile remarks on Zia

Actress Shomi Kaiser is facing a Tk 100 crore defamation lawsuit for making derogatory remarks about BNP’s founder and former president Ziaur Rahman.

Mohammad Rezwan Kabir filed the case at Magura Senior Judicial Magistrate Court on Sunday (October 13), said Rezwan’s lawyer Advocate Kazi Minhaz.

Kaiser addressed Zia, a sector commander during the Liberation War and later the chief of army staff, as a “national traitor”.

Aggrieved by this, the complainant approached the court, which ordered the Police Bureau of Investigation (PBI) to investigate the case.

There have been several controversies regarding the actress since the beginning of the anti-discrimination student movement. A case was filed against her and 16 others for allegedly attempting to murder BNP activist Syed Hasan Mahmud.
