The High Court has suspended the decision to stop broadcasting of the private television channel-CSB. As a result, CSB TV is not prevented from broadcasting, said the lawyers.
On Monday (September 23), a High Court (HC) bench comprising Justice Kamrul Hossain Mollah and Justice Kazi Zeenat Haque passed the order.
Earlier, Fayyaz Quader Chowdhury, son of late BNP leader Salahuddin Chowdhury, filed an appeal in the court seeking withdrawal of the decision to stop broadcasting of CSB television.
Barrister AM Mahbub Uddin Khokon took part in the hearing on behalf of the petitioner.
CSB television was taken off air during the caretaker government of 1/11.
At least 400 staff including journalists of the TV channel was rendered jobless after its shutdown.
The past caretaker government on September 6, 2007 cancelled the transmission and frequency licenses of CSB News on charge of committing forgery in obtaining frequency license.
The CSB News, a satellite TV channel of Focus Multimedia Company and the first 24-hour Bangla news channel in the country began transmission on February 21, 2007.
